One Day Induction Workshop
Date: 16th, February 2012 in London - CCT Venues-Barbican Aldersgate House 135-137 Aldersgate Street London, EC1A 4JA
This was so useful. Gaining a deep insight into the Industry and how best to target and market my skills for this market were vitally important tools. Meeting other people and the opportunity to ask any and all questions were added benefits. I initially thought that I could not afford the day, but it was money so very well spent. Fantastic! Thank you.
Lorraine Smith - ex-Marketing Executive for Barclays Investments.
This unique workshop provides ALL Executives and Managers looking at Interim Management for the first time with the vital information they need to succeed in this career. It goes much further than simply presenting facts about the market place (which is where most other 'workshops' stop).
It helps delegates understand the intricacies of the different players in the industry, and provides delegates with essential tips and proven techniques to make an informed decision about their career choice and, for those who decide to do so, how to make a fast and successful start in Interim Management. It also critically provides you with excellent advice on how to market yourself to this unique industry.
It is a highly-interactive workshop where delegates have every opportunity to have their questions and concerns answered by two, fully-trained and highly experienced facilitators (experienced trainers and interim managers), who have facilitated over 100 of these workshops.
If you want to find out if Interim Management is for you and / or how to succeed quickly and avoid many costly and time consuming mistakes, this workshop is a must (read the quotes from delegates who have benefited).
Note: You do not need to be a member of the API to attend, although there are subsequent membership discounts available to workshop delegates (see Support)
The self-marketing aspects of this interactive workshop have proven extremely valuable to interims who are experiencing prolonged periods in-between assignments and/or who have not previously operated outside of their own network or sector.

The interactive nature of the workshop allows delegates of all experience levels to gain a fresh understanding and approach to marketing themselves more effectively.
Thank you for the certificate. I found the workshop both well organised and very useful. I really appreciated the energy, enthusiasm and professionalism with which the facilitators presented the subject. I had done some research on the subject, but seeing and hearing the facilitators present their material and participating in the discussions which took place with the group really made the subject come alive for me. I feel I now have a much better understanding of what interim management really is about and feel both optimistic and enthusiastic about starting my own business. Thanks!
Russell ~ Vice President, R&D Beverages

If you've spent your life in local government and have just one day to decide if interim management is your next big thing, then this is the workshop for you. It gave me a real insight into what the role demands. I now know the steps I need to take to give me the best chance of winning interim assignments. There was also plenty of advice on the practicalities of getting established as a limited company. Last but not least, the workshop is a good opportunity to network with like-minded people from a wide variety of backgrounds.
Dave Nash, Strategic Director - Stratford-on-Avon District Council

I would highly recommend this workshop to anyone, particularly to those from the public sector, thinking about becoming an interim manager. It's a focused yet wide-ranging explanation of the key things you really need to get to grips with as part of your decision whether to enter this challenging market place.
Fran Gillon Public sector Director -Legal Services Board
I have known Dave Harries through my role as an interim manager. Dave has been leading on promoting and educating the interim management profession as an alternative career path for public sector staff facing redundancy as a result of central government spending cuts in the UK. His practical courses makes participants think outside the box about their future career and development and provide the information people need know to make an informed decision, as well as how to go about becoming a successful interim.
Jens Gemmel Corporate Transformation Programme Director -London Borough of Tower Hamlets
The latest Ipsos MORI industry surveys are used to provide delegates with up-to-date information on interim rates, most sought after job functions by clients (public and private sector), most popular type of interim assignments, routes to market , the skills and knowledge required and sought by clients, the role of providers, important differences between interim management, consultancy and contracting, how to marshal and utilise your own network, plus understanding core competencies essential for successful Interim Managers, and so forth.
The workshop also covers setting yourself up in business for this market, legislation to be aware of, and much more.
Fast-track your new career by learning proven techniques and tools of how to market yourself in this complex industry; Understanding how to take advantage of the different routes to market, how to pitch your value to clients in terms of 'problems solved', how to construct your business letters and CV to set yourself ahead of the rest, how to understand and exploit routes to market, and how to look for new work whilst still on an assignment, are all skills unique to this market which are covered by the workshop. The interactive nature of the workshop allows delegates of all experience levels to gain a fresh understanding and approach to marketing themselves more effectively.

Examine the skills and techniques required to succeed in this industry. You may already be a successful (permanent employment) manager, but the speed and approach needed to interim management roles is almost certainly different to anything you have previously experienced. Learn the art and necessity of how to diagnose underlying issues rapidly on entry into a new assignment, how to (re) negotiate your terms of reference, how to harness support, sometimes in hostile environments, and how to win assignments at those initial business meetings in the first place.
Learn also, critically, what you are supposed to accomplish in that first vital week!
Workshops run from 10.30am to 5.30pm (registration is from 10am) with lunch and tea breaks interspaced to allow networking among delegates and with facilitators.
Critically, the workshop contains several individual and group sessions, where delegates are able to begin work on key aspects of personal marketing, such as value propositions and construction of CV's and so forth. Delegates are also encouraged to ask questions and participate in group discussions throughout the day.
Note: Numbers of delegates are kept to a maximum of 18, in order to enable delegates, to ask their questions and concerns, and to fully engage with each other and with the facilitators and guest speakers.
Workshops are available every month in central London in a fully equipped conference and training centre. You can see details of the venue, including address and map at www.cctvenues.co.uk (held at the CCT Venues Barbican )

The agenda of the day sets out the main areas to be covered with approximate times, but the dynamics of the group will determine, to some extent, the time spent on respective areas.
